Karnataka Shakti Yojana: Shakti Yojana has been implemented by the Government of Karnataka for the residents of Karnataka state. According to this scheme, women of Karnataka state can avail free bus travel in buses from June 11, 2023. Under this scheme, 41.8 lakhs More than 100 women will be able to take advantage of this scheme and the government will spend an estimated Rs 4051 crore on this scheme.

However, it is important to note that 50% of the seats will be reserved for males. Individuals must be a resident of Karnataka to avail the benefits of this Karnataka Shakti Yojana. Road transport companies will get reimbursement based on the distance traveled by women in the state. Karnataka Shakti Yojana: By implementing this scheme the Congress government is fulfilling its promise of providing free bus travel to women in government buses. Apart from this, transgender persons can also avail the benefits of this scheme.

However, it is important to note that free travel outside the state is not allowed under this scheme. State road transport corporations, such as KSRTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC, will reserve 50% of their seats for men. Until Shakti smart cards are issued, residents of Karnataka can use their identity cards issued by the central or state government.

The objective of Karnataka Shakti Yojana

The primary objective of Karnataka Shakti Yojana the state government is to provide free bus travel to women in the state of Karnataka. And through this scheme, the suffering of women is to be removed. Under this scheme, emphasis will be given to the purpose of giving priority to the convenience and safety of women passengers. Issuance of smart cards for free bus travel will start after three months. By providing this opportunity, the scheme aims to promote gender equality and empower women by removing barriers to accessing transport services.

Procedure to apply for Shakti Smart Card

• Visit the official website of Seva Sindhu Portal https://sevasindhuservices.karnataka.gov.in/.

• You will see the homepage option of the website.

• If you are a new user, you need to register first.

• After successful registration, log in to the portal by providing the required details.

• After logging in, you can proceed to apply for Smart Card.

• Click on the “Apply for Shakti Smart Card” option.

• A new page displaying the application form will appear.

• Fill the required details in the application form.

• Click on the “Submit” option.
