Update – 5th June: Registration for availing benefits on Seva Sindhu Related to Karnataka Griha Jyoti Yojana
To get the benefit of free electricity through Karnataka Griha Jyoti Yojana, citizens are now required to register on the Seva Sindhu website. This registration process ensures eligibility to receive free electricity up to 200 units. This plan is exclusively designed for residential use and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
Customers will be charged for any additional usage other than the free units if the plan is provided. However, if a customer’s electricity consumption falls below the scheme-eligible units, they will not receive any bill. It is important to complete the registration on the Seva Sindhu website by linking the Customer ID/Account ID with Aadhaar.
Additionally, any outstanding bills prior to June 30 will have to be paid within three months, to avoid disconnection of the power supply. The allocation of free power units will be determined on the basis of the average monthly consumption of consumers during 2022-23. The scheme will come into effect in July and from August onwards, customers who consume energy equal to or less than their monthly average will be exempted from paying electricity bills.

• There is no need to visit government offices to take advantage of the free electricity scheme.
• If the electricity bill of your house is generated by any authority it will be valid even if you have used only 200 units.
• The officer will reset your meter reading to zero.
• If a household consumes up to 200 units of electricity, they will not be charged for electricity.
• This process will be done on a monthly basis.
• If the monthly consumption exceeds 201 units, the electricity bill will have to be paid for the additional unit, but no charges will be levied if the consumption remains within the eligible limit.
